Does your archives charge user fees?

Yes!  Researchers pay $3.00 for a half day of use, or $5.00 for a full day.  Any photocopying, etc. is an additional charge.  Members of the historical society do not pay fees and enjoy reduced copying rates.

What does it cost to become a member of the Argyle Municipality Historical & Genealogical Society?

$25 per yr. for individuals; $30.00 for families or couples

What are benefits of membership?

You receive four issues of a highly popular quarterly newsletter, The Argus; do not pay research fees in the archives or admission fees at the museum; and enjoy reduced photocopying charges at the archives.

Does your archives do genealogical research for free?

No!  We do not have the staff or resources to carry out research for free for the public.  We do assist people in any way we can who come to the archives in person to carry out research.  For those who wish to have research done for them, there is an hourly fee, and the work is done by volunteer researchers under the supervision of a Certified Genealogist.

Does your archives accept donations of material?

Yes!  But of archival material only.  We are very interested in archival materials (documents, photographs, maps, etc.) pertaining in any way to the history of Argyle Municipality communities and families.  We do not collect artifacts (unless they pertain in some way to the themes of court, justice, jail, etc.)
